Meet Bill Thomas, Worship Commission

I am Bill Thomas and I have attended 3 Presbyterian churches; South Webster,1951- 1964, (this is where Donna and I were confirmed together and were married in 1972), Kirkwood Presbyterian from 1964-2001 and we started attending Southminster in 2001 and joined in February 2003.

I grew up in Glendale and graduated from Kirkwood High. I'm married to Donna and we have two grown daughters, Debbie and Julie, who both live in St. Louis. We have 6 grandchildren, from 1st grade to 9th. We lived in Crestwood for 19 years then bought my parent's house in Glendale where I grew up.

I have served in two churches as Deacon, Trustee and Elder. I have taught Sunday School and in 2005-2006 I served at Southminster as Interim Youth Minister. One thing I loved were the mission trips with middle school, high school and college and career. We went to Mound Ridge and Pensacola, Florida. After Katrina, we made 3 trips to Homa, La.

My dad, mom, Donna and I owned a travel agency, which started in 1961. We were in Clayton and then Des Peres. After 9/11, the industry was never the same. I closed the business in 2003. I then worked at Missouri Coin and sold precious metals for 5 years. In 2013, I worked for a lighting manufacturer in Kirkwood, Ward and Burton. I retired December 2017.

Since retiring, I help at Isaiah 58 Ministries driving the truck to pick up food that is given out during the week. I also love going to Mound Ridge either for a men's retreat or just a day trip to do mission work. I have helped at their annual fund raiser as the auctioneer. The 2019 fund raiser is Saturday, April 27.

I miss going to football games. For 44 years, I went to Cardinal, Rams and Mizzou games. In the summer we enjoy our lake property at Lake Sherwood, near New Melle. Our family and friends enjoy swimming, boating and fishing. I still love to travel and we hope to visit many of our national parks.
