I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about our wonderful program for children 2-5 years old. Our Mother’s Day Out program offers children ages 2 and 3 the opportunity to have a social situation outside the home. The children are in a loosely structured environment with the ability to experience being with other children, work with different craft mediums, and learn about being “independent” from Mom or Dad, perhaps for the first time! We also offer different pre-school classes for children ages 3-5.
The 2-year olds have an option of coming to school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – or any combination of those days. This age group does not need to be toilet trained, but when they are ready, we reinforce what they are being taught at home from their parents. Our Pre-School program prepares 3, 4, and 5-year olds for Kindergarten, offering hands on learning experiences, getting along with others in a group situation, and having fun learning with friends. New this year is our Mystery Reader that comes in to school to read their own favorite children’s story.
We help children to develop a positive self-image, build self-confidence, and have pride in the challenges they have met and the skills they have mastered. The Pre-School focuses on a different letter of the alphabet each week. For each month, they will explore a shape, color, a set of numbers and a character trait. We introduce all the children to a monthly Bible story, saying blessings before snacks and meals, and, once a week, the children have a special Bible Story Time with Pastor Karl.
We offer a three-day program for 3 and 4-year olds (T/W/Th). A four-day program is available for 3, 4, and 5-year olds (M/T/W/Th). On Tuesdays, we have gym, and on Thursdays, we have music, in which all the school children participate. We have a different theme each week where the children learn their letters, numbers, counting and colors. themes for the month of February include Love Your Neighbor as Yourself, Be My Valentine, Under the Sea (which includes a favorite: Winter Beach Party) and Space Quest.
The color for February is pink, the shape is a heart, the numbers are 13, 14, and 15 and our character trait is compassion. Also, this month we will be having professional spring pictures taken. Our program is a terrific community outreach for Southminster. Many of the children also attend the youth programs and Vacation Bible School each summer for several years after leaving our program. Tuition, registration fees and fundraisers fund all our program. This includes supplies, equipment and salaries.
Registration has begun for fall 2020 classes. For Registration details click here!
